Scott is one of the world’s leading experts on youth empowerment and entrepreneurship. The Wall Street Journal referred to him as a serial and parallel entrepreneur due to the number of businesses he started in diverse industries. Collectively his companies have grossed over $100 million with businesses ranging from software to seminars and real estate to restaurants. Shickler is the author or coauthor of 8 books including, The Ultimate Entrepreneur and The 7 Mindsets to Live Your Ultimate Life. Scott also wrote the Boy Scout Merit Badge booklet on entrepreneurship. He has been featured on CNN, ABC & NBC News, and in The New York Times. Shickler is the former CEO and founder of Excent Corporation – a multi-million dollar education company serving millions of students and educators throughout the world. He grew up in New York and now lives in Atlanta with his wife and two sons. Scott is a graduate of Fordham University and also the cofounder of the Magic Wand Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to empowering youth to live their dreams.
Juan P. Casimiro
Juan is considered one of the nation's leading experts on youth empowerment and personal achievement. Over the past 21 years he has coached 125,000 students plus thousands of teachers and parents through interactive, high-energy workshops that deliver lifelong lessons. Juan has delivered programs on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, sustainability, and youth success throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. He has co-authored several books including Making It! A Teen's Guide to Turning Your Hobbies, Skills and Dreams into Entrepreneurial Success. His accomplishments and those of his students have been featured in a variety of media including CNN, NBC News, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. Juan's work has been featured in eight US Embassies and at leading universities such as USC, Columbia, and Harvard in addition to leading international institutions. He holds a Masters Degree in Education and began his career as a special education teacher in New York City.
April is a certified Dale Carnegie instructor. She delivers training programs in areas such as vision development, self-confidence, presentation skills, leadership, and human relations causing measurable behavioral change and ultimately impacting the bottom line for customers in multiple industries. Currently, she is ranked in the top 20 out of 3,000 Dale Carnegie instructors worldwide. She has trained and spoken to businesses such as United Parcel Service (UPS), Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Kroger, Macy's, Noramco (a unit of Johnson and Johnson), Goodwill Industries, Merrill Lynch, and Wal-Mart with favorable results. April brings energy and a unique perspective into every group that she facilitates. Her passion for bringing out the best in others extends into working with young adults to share her personal experience overcoming obstacles as a teenager. She has facilitated groups like the Honeywell Teen Program at NASA and The Ultimate Life Summit with the Magic Wand Foundation. Before working with Dale Carnegie, April served as the Volunteer Coordinator at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA, where she worked with over 400 active adult volunteers, 100 teen volunteers, and an Auxiliary of 600 members. April attended Georgia College & State University and graduated with a BA in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and Rhetoric. She lives in Athens, Georgia with her husband and daughter.
Roberto Rivera is an artist and educator who specializes in applying practical and relevant methods to engage youth. He is the President and Lead Change Agent of The Good Life Organization, which publishes educational tools and trains educators, youth workers, and parents in connecting positive youth development to community development.
Jeff is a leading visionary on youth achievement. He has dedicated the last decade to learning and understanding the critical elements that define high achievers. With more than 10 years consulting to the world's leading technology, financial services, and healthcare companies, he understands how the application of these success principles differentiate people both personally and professionally. Jeff has assisted Hewlett Packard, Chase Manhattan Bank, Merrill Lynch, Fidelity Investments, General Electric and Amoco Oil with technology and strategic plans. In the last seven years as COO of Excent Corp., Jeff has worked with over 5,000 children, helping them understand and appreciate their uniqueness, learn to take action on their dreams, take risks, learn from setbacks, and maintain a positive mental attitude about themselves, others and their future. He is co-authoring a book on helping children develop successful life habits. Jeff holds a degree from The Georgia Institute of Technology. He is married and the father of three children.
Nashid is a premier thinker on youth empowerment and personal development. As a former educator in one of the worst school districts in the country, he developed methods that have empowered educators across the country with the skills to maximize the achievement of their students. Over the years he has personally mentored and coached students in the United States and abroad to achieve their dreams through higher education, entrepreneurship, and community involvement. Nashid earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Morehouse College in 2006.
J Ross Parelli
J Ross Parelli is a Universal/MI5 recording artist who has performed on huge stages across Europe, Africa and the USA. Her involvement in global community work and education led her to co-found Beats Lyrics Leaders, which utilizes a hip-hop curriculum to empower at-risk youth and aspiring young artists. J Ross is dedicated to using hip-hop education to change the world!
Andrew & Tracy McConaghie
Andrew & Tracy McConaghie have Masterï¿½s Degrees in Clinical Social Work from the University of Maryland and have a successful family counseling practice in Alpharetta, Georgia. The McConaghies are excited to be a part of the ULS for the fifth year and are available to ULS students who may need some support throughout the week.
